Tik-Tok, K-Dramas, Bollywood... Connecting with Millennials.

Episode Description
In this joyful, raucous episode, Amina, Asha, Fosay, Hamdi, and Nima talk about their pop cultural obsessions, including Bollywood (Hindi) movies and shows, Korean dramas, Filipino movies, and TikTok. Anita and Emily from Carleton College join in to ask questions and learn about what pop culture they need to engage with to connect with millenials. The team talks about how Bollywood and Korean shows do not tend to show explicit sex scenes which makes it easier to watch with their parents. They discuss what shows and actors they like or don’t like, impossible beauty standards, plot holes, and second lead syndrome. They talk about how they appreciate women/girl characters who stand up for themselves without putting down other women/girls. The team talks about how they learn about pop culture but also global issues from TikTok such as the farmers’ protests in India and protests in Hong Kong. FYI, the show does contain spoiler alerts for some of the shows! The show ends with a discussion about food at the end because some of the team members are into FoodTikTok.
